OSTIn Hosts President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s Visit to Singapore’s Space Ecosystem

OSTIn had the honour of co-hosting President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s
visit to explore Singapore’s vibrant space ecosystem on 11 June 2024, along
with Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU).
President Tharman received a briefing from Jonathan Hung,
Executive Director of OSTIn, and Lim Wee Seng, Executive Director of
NTU Satellite Research Centre (SaRC)
. He also connected with key representatives from Singapore’s space academia,
industry, and student communities.

During the visit, NTU unveiled the Extremely Low Earth Imaging Technology Explorer (ELITE) satellite's final test model – their 14th and largest, most complex satellite yet. A collaboration between NTU Singapore, Aliena Pte Ltd, LightHaus Photonics Pte Ltd , Temasek Laboratories @ NUS, and ST Engineering Satellite Systems, this project supported by OSTIn highlights the advancement in Singapore’s space tech capabilities. It also offers invaluable learning opportunities for students and youths, igniting their passion for STEM careers.
